πŸ‚πŸ DYI Scented Potpourri

A few days ago I randomly found several tutorials of DIY scented wax/ potpourri and it was merely irresistible to give them a shot. The result is stellar as it gives the house such a very long lasting authentically fresh fragrance extracted from natural citrus and herbs that I've never thought of. It’s also an eco-friendly, easy and inexpensive way to utilize leftover perishable ingredients from the previous cooking so, why not?

The recipes are super easy; they're right below...But first, let's look at how simple it is to activate these wonderful aroma.

✅ Combine all ingredients together into a pot filled with water and heat it on the stove top; when the water is boiling, turn down the heat and leave it simmer so long as you desire but do ensure there’s still some water remaining in the pot the whole time. I'd say if you leave the heat at the lowest, you will eventually turn it off after an hour or so.

✅ Since I’m forgetful enough, I dislike the idea of stove top heating so I like transferring the boiled water into a crockpot, set it at ‘high’ and just let it sit there for a couple hours. Another alternative appliance to distribute the aroma is candle warmer. However, the temperature of the water won't be high enough to spread out the scent in a medium to large room, I won't recommend using this method unless you are only tempted to use it in a small half bathroom.

✅ For time efficiency, you totally can prep different kinds at the same time and simply store them in the refrigerator, with or without water because the result is same. A minor note, if you’re using mason jars, make sure to pick the right ones that can be placed in the freezer as not all mason jars can do the same thing....

Now, you see how easy it is to make your home smell fantastic. Let's jump to the recipes.

1. Orange + cinnamon + star anise + cloves (these 2 are optional and just use 1-2 pieces each because they smells very strong. You don't want your house to smell like you're cooking PHO...): spicy and warm smell of Fall. My favorite because of it power. I can even smell it upstairs.

2. Lime + mint + thyme + vanilla extract: fresh, pleasant smell.

3. Lemon + Rosemary + vanilla extract: sweet, lovely smell that's similar to the scent in William-Sonoma stores.

4. Orange + ginger + almond extract: sweet, delicious, relaxing scent.

There are still a lot more recipes out there but these are my first trials. Stay tuned for my further update on more recipes. I'll also follow up with pictures of the frozen jars with and without water for your reference.

Happy krafting !!
